Laura learns to think bigger
Since hearing Barbara speak, reading her Secrets of Six Figure Women book, and forming a women's Abundance Circle Experience with Barbara's book as required reading material, my business approach has changed dramatically. I have connected with another woman whose dream is changing the face of AIDS in Africa (FACE = Future African Children Educated.)
This is a three-part process. 1) Sharing the generational patterns inherent in a disease like AIDS, another dimension to add to the basic education about sexually transmitted diseases. 2) Music creates harmony in the body's energy centers, and a song has been created to support this healing. 3) Nutrition, bodily support, including supplements and possibly body wraps as gifts to the children of Africa.
We already have a video piece ready to be edited and forwarded to people like Oprah Winfrey, Bono of U2, and Nelson Mandela.
I'm dreaming bigger than I ever have before, and I have connecting with Barbara Stanny and Lucy Shafer of Sound in Health to thank for it.

Gwen changes her mind
Five years ago I made a commitment that since my first 40 years were filled with POVERTY & WELFARE, the next 40 will be filled with WEALTH and ABUNDANCE.... and it's happening!! After changing my mindset to wealth and abundance, I immediately went out and got my real estate license (even though I had never met a Realtor and never bought my own house!). I started reading books, heard you on the radio and found your wonderful books.
Then I started meeting people who had lots of money in my real estate business but didn't fit the stereotypes that I had always had in my mind about people who have money. They were nice! They cared about our community, they weren't stuck up and snooty! (It so reminded me of you talking about doing the research for Secrets of Six-Figure Women!)
Then after reading your books, my sales price per house started going up! A year ago my average price range was about $130,000 - $170,000. My last house was $419,000! And I'm no longer scared and feel totally out of my league!! WOW!! This is unreal!! And now I'm beginning to work with investors!
I've been telling everyone who will listen about your books. They've truly made a huge impact in my life, and I hope to help others experience the same!

Cheryl sets an intention
Here is an update on what has happened since I attended your Underearners Workshop. At that workshop I took you at your word, and I stated clearly what I wanted for my future. With no idea how I would get there, I had the audacity to write down on paper that I wanted to be a full-time professional artist and a home-based private practice counselor. I wanted to give up my day job. 24 hours after the workshop was over, I received a phone call asking me if I would be interested in a one-woman show at a nearby gallery. My husband framed 19 paintings in two weeks. I worked every waking hour on this show. When my gala opening night came, over 100 people came to honor me, to see my work and yes, to purchase art! It was a Cinderella night, complete with flower deliveries and surprise visits from people as far away as California. Barbara, I am sure you will not be surprised when I tell you that since that night, I have sold many more paintings and myriads of other opportunities are coming my way. Am I thrilled? YES! Thank you for the Underearners Workshop, and thank you for your coaching today. I will indeed network like crazy and learn the business of selling art. Thanks for the encouragement.

Bonnetta gets a new perspective
I was referred to your book by a woman I recently met. She realized my skill set and kept telling me I was underemployed. (She had read your book.) I had recognized this observation from other people I met, but for some reason it annoyed me to hear it from them. I was not at the stage where I was ready to admit it. I considered this admittance to be equated with failure. When I purchased your book I began to realize that I am a lifetime underearner. I am 32 and completing my MBA, but before reading your book I was still looking for customer service jobs. I did not feel qualified that I could apply my knowledge in a work environment. When managers above me made decisions that did not profit, I questioned their skill set but never took it a step further to say: "I would be a better manager.' Now I am there!!!! I am a better
manager than many managers that I met, and I am able to see through many situations clearer than most people I have worked with, past and present. I am as dynamic as people around me have said, and I am putting my negative self behind me, to focus on this new found person, thanks to you.
From reading your book I have done the following: 1. Volunteered to teach a computer course. 2. Become an Executive Board Member of a long-standing nonprofit organization. 3. Put myself on a new diet. This diet is called, Change of Life. It is my creation. I need to eat healthier, and only I have that control. Last year I weighed 300 pounds. I lost 30 then gained 15 back. During the course of being disappointed with my status in life, I gained back all but 8 of the 30 pounds I lost. Now I am at 280 and still losing.
Mental power is strong, and you taught me that. I wish I could do more to give you the power your words returned to me. Thank you again for your inspiration. I am forever a fan."

Sandra makes a big leap to a better job
Please check the signature at the bottom please, Barbara. It says senior research analyst. I owe you my success in 2004. I'll be brief, but I wish to let you know, and to let your potential students know, that your words are powerful. I purchased Secrets of Six Figure Women while accompanying my mom on a trip to the bookstore. The cover intrigued me and I bought it as a whim. More self-help stuff, I thought. Great.
Barbara, I could NOT put the book down. I stayed up until 4AM reading this book. I want to tell you that something inside me changed. Many people motivate you to do great things, but they never mention the FEAR factor involved in going after what you really want. They sort of breeze over that part. Or they give you weak tips on how to suppress it. But YOU Barbara, give women the following much needed advice: (1) That everyone feels fear when reaching outside of their comfort zone, and (2) DO IT ANYWAY!
Well, I had aspirations to "do it anyway." When I asked to be considered for a challenging position that opened up in my department, my boss laughed and said: "You do know you can't get this job. Please tell me you know you can't do this, right?" I asked him if I could at least apply. He laughed and mockingly told me to send him my resume and wait for a call.
I was dejected. He laughed at me! Hurt the pride. I was mortified thinking that my boss was going to laugh and tell everyone how I had the audacity to ask to be promoted. How I was too stupid to even see how NOT qualified I was. And then the strangest thing happened. THE NEXT DAY I was looking at job openings in the TV industry and the same position opened up at a major cable channel, my favorite network! I called my friend. I told her. This is going to be my job. By noon, I had already been called me for an interview. I was very excited. But I had to convince them that I could do the job.
The interview process was stressful, it was the hottest week in July, and here I was wearing suits pretending that I'm not interviewing elsewhere. The last round came down to me and another individual. I wasn't sure they were convinced, so I took a leap of faith and created a 10-page presentation touting my successes.
The whole way through, I consulted your book, Barbara. I wanted to make sure I did everything correctly, and I re-read the salary chapter again. The section on asking for more money. I figured that if they offered me the job, they would try to make a bargain basement out of me. I finally got the offer, and I asked for more money! The hiring manager was annoyed and explained how they calculate salary, etc. So I used the line from your book: "I'm very excited about this position, and this figure is really what I need to see."
Barbara, do you know it WORKED!?!? I got almost the salary I requested (less $1000) but with a bonus, it was more than I expected! And now I am currently the youngest senior analyst across any cable network. (I've had people check that statistic for me). My boss couldn't believe I pulled it off when I gave my two week's notice.
Oh and one more thing: At the time I was a 22-year-old black female with one year of full-time working experience. Now I'm making more than my friends, all because I had the guts to dream, ask for more... with the greatest coach I'll ever have. YOU BARBARA! Thank you so much! You are an inspiration.
